Congratulations to Gillian Curtis!
(18 April 2018)
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Gillian Curtis, Secretary in the Department of Classics and Ancient History, has won the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Internal Recognition award for ‘Inspirational Colleague’ 2018. There were over 90 nominations in all, so Gillian had some tough (and excellent) competition to beat. This is a fantastic achievement and one which is very well deserved.
Mrs Jess Stacey, Departmental Manager, nominated Gillian on behalf of the department and her nomination statement ran as follows:
“Gillian is highly respected throughout the department as a colleague who provides outstanding service, demonstrates passion and dedication at all times, and understands and appreciates the pressures academic staff are under. Gillian takes the time to get to know everyone, always enquiring after significant events and people, especially if someone is experiencing a difficult (or indeed a happy) time. Gillian is highly valued for the role she plays in the successful running of the department. She consistently works in an exemplary fashion, delivering operational excellence associated with research, education and the student experience, which in turn is reflected in the overall standing of the department nationally and internationally. She is an unfailingly supportive and able colleague – also, and especially, during a period of very rapid change and associated high demands in the Department. Gillian is thoroughly deserving of this award, outstanding in every regard.”
