Casey Lam, a postgraduate researcher in the Chemistry department, was the overall winner with her business ‘Top Hat Teacakes’ at The North East Regional Blueprint Business Planning and Creation Competition.

The competition brings together the brightest entrepreneurs from the North East’s five universities with the region’s most astute and forward-thinking businesses, and is an opportunity for vibrant graduates and undergraduates to make the very best of their talents and skills regionally, with dedicated support and mentoring from local and national businesses. She was also awarded the Garbeau Prize for Creativity. Casey has been supported in the development of her business ideas by the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre (CEEC) at Durham University.

This is the second news item concerning Casey this year, she also won an award earlier.
