Opportunities to join our team
(13 June 2019)
We are recruiting to two open-ended, full time teaching posts in Japanese language. These posts are available due to recent staff changes and an expansion in provision for Japanese.
- Full time Assistant Professor (Teaching) to act as co-ordinator of the Japanese language programme in the Centre for Foreign Language Study, and to deliver teaching of Japanese language as part of the University’s Institution Wide Language Programme - https://recruitment.durham.ac.uk/pls/corehrrecruit/erq_jobspec_details_form.jobspec?p_id=018811
- Full time Assistant Teaching Fellow to deliver teaching of Japanese language as part of the University’s Institution Wide Language Programme - https://recruitment.durham.ac.uk/pls/corehrrecruit/erq_jobspec_details_form.jobspec?p_id=018622
The Assistant Professor position has an expectation of higher levels of experience, leadership and scholarship. Applicants may, if they wish, apply separately to be considered for both positions. The successful applicants will be joining a team of 25 permanent staff, and a community of scholars in the School of Modern Languages & Cultures at Durham which also delivers a successful BA programme in Japanese Studies. The Centre for Foreign Language Study offers 4 credit bearing modules in Japanese at levels comparable to JLPT N5 to N2, and a number of extra-curricular courses, with over 250 students per year studying the language (www.dur.ac.uk/cfls).
Anyone interested in either of these positions is invited to contact Mark Critchley (firstname.lastname@example.org) to find out further details. The closing date for each post is 12:00 on 11th July 2019. It is anticipated that interviews will take place in early August.
