French courses | October 2019

The October 2019 French programme will comprise of three formats of courses: Language Accelerator, Language Progression and Language Development. Course listings can be found below.


Accelerator Courses

19 weeks in length. These courses follow the same curriculum as our credit-bearing modules. Designed for the more committed or motivated language learner, they are most suitable for those who wish to develop their language ability more quickly, or for a particular purpose.

Schedule

Stage 1 and 2 courses comprise of one 2-hour seminar, plus an additional fortnightly 2-hour lab session. Stage 4 courses comprise of one 2-hour seminar. Learners are expected to undertake a minimum of 4-5 hours independent study per week.

Dates:
Term 1: Week commencing Monday 14 October 2019 – week ending Friday 13 December 2019 (9 weeks).
Term 2: Week commencing Monday 13 January 2020 – week ending Friday 20 March 2020 (10 weeks).

Language Progression Courses

18 weeks in length. Currently our most popular format, these courses are ideal for learners who wish to improve their language skills, but have other commitments that may limit study time.

Schedule

One 2-hour evening class per week, and a minimum of 2 hours of independent learning between classes.

Term 1: Week commencing Monday 21 October 2019 – week ending Friday 13 December 2019 (8 weeks).
Term 2: Week commencing Monday 13 January 2020 – week ending Friday 20 March 2020 (10 weeks).

Language Development Courses

9 weeks in length. This format offers learners the opportunity to study in shorter blocks. There are more frequent start dates (January, June and October) meaning language ability can be progressed with a flexible schedule. Courses comprise one 2-hour evening class per week.
