Technical and Professional Skills Development Fund
Phase 1 and 2 are now closed due to volume of applications!
The Careers & Enterprise Centre has been allocated £25K from the Sir Thomas Allen's Covid-19 Recovery Fund to provide career development grants for ‘Class of 2020’ graduates who are entering perhaps the most turbulent graduate jobs market in a generation.
Our Technical and Professional Skills Development Fund will offer up to £1,000 to DU 2020 graduates (Class of 2020 – students graduating in 2020 having successfully completed their programme of study) to cover, or contribute to, fees related to technical/professional development training or short courses which lead to qualifications and/or improved sector related skills and employability. The fund is for fees for technical or professional development only and is not available to address costs related to postgraduate study.
Appropriate courses and training are likely to be wide and varied, and could include areas such as (but not restricted to) project management, music/theatre/screen/broadcasting production, business skills, IT/multi-media/digital skills, leadership, interactional skills, presentation skills, real estate/property management, journalism, perdonal development programmes and so on.
If you are part of the Durham University “Class of 2020” (defined above) and have secured a technical/professional development programme with associated fees and would like to apply for an award of up to £1000, please fill in the application form to be found below under Resources and email it to email@example.com as soon as possible.
Applications for the funding will operate in two stages:
Phase 1 of applications from 1st August (total fund £15,000) - Now closed to applications and funds have been shared
Phase 2 of applications from 1st October (total fund £10,000) - now closed to applications and appications are being assessed in arrival order
This is a limited fund and will be allocated on a first come first served basis for each stage should the criteria be met.
You will need to outline details of the course or learning programme, provider details, confirmation of your course/training offer and fees, and the amount you would like to claim (up to £1000). If you are successful, we will contact you to ask you to feedback to us about the impact of the funding support.
