Extra Curricular Internships in Europe

A number of European countries require that a student provide the prospective employer with a signed Internship Agreement document before a UK based student can take up an extra curricular, vacation internship with employers.

Durham University acknowledge these internships as student activity for current students only. Designated academics within each Faculty have permission to sign these documents on behalf of the University and on the understanding that students are responsible for arranging their own insurance. Please note: students MUST be current registered students. If there are any queries then please contact the Placement Officer (work.experience@durham.ac.uk) and the University Legal team.

Ultimately a decision to choose a placement is a judgement call by staff and students, having made use of the recommended frameworks and guidance documents.
