Booking your Event

At Durham, we strive to maximise your potential audience by effectively planning and organising our events programme. We operate a diary booking system with the aim of ensuring the following:

  • No more than three events during the day time
  • No more than five events on a single evening
  • No clashes with employers from the same sector in the same time slot^

To ensure the comprehensive marketing of your event to students, we strongly advise booking your presentations/events giving as much notice as possible.


Lunchtime events including room booking - £95.

Evening events/administration rate (bookings exclusive of room) - £95.

Promotional activity & events e.g. coffee shop drop in sessions - Please phone for prices.

All prices are exclusive of VAT.

Pricing changes for all events booked to take place after 1st October 2018 are as follows:

Lunchtime events including room booking - £175.

Evening events/administration rate (bookings exclusive of room) - £175.

Cafe drop-in: £175 (discounted rate of £55 for charities & SMEs).

Large scale promotional event: half day from £350, full day from £550 (full day includes an upgrade on the student events bulletin worth £175).

Meeting room hire (for example, for interviews/small group sessions): Half day £120 (including light refreshments), full day £160 (including light lunch and refreshements). Discounted rate of £55/day for charities & SMEs.

All prices are exclusive of VAT.

Advice on suitable venues and times

We are always happy to give employers as much advice as possible. We will book a lecture theatre or classroom for your use, at no extra cost, (for lunchtime presentations/events). These normally take place from 13.00-14.00. Please note that for evening presentations employers are responsible for booking their own venue and for meeting all associated costs. Our University conferencing department Event Durham are experts on venue options both within the University and at local hotels please view the link for details.

You can also hire our Meeting Room in the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre. The room is suitable for drop-in sessions (maximum of 12 people) or interviews.

^ Please note that the no clash policy applies for centrally coordinated recruitment activity and cannot mitigate against student activity such as society led events. Time slots are defined as day time (09.00 - 17.00) and evening (17.00 onwards).
