Professor Ian Diamond, ESRC Chief Executive gives the Wolfson Annual Lecture 2009

Professor Ian Diamond, Chief Executive of the ESRC will give the 2009 Wolfson Annual Lecture on Thursday 12th November 2009 entitled 'Public services and the recession: what is the role of the UK research councils'.

Professor Ian Diamond is the Chief Executive of the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and chair of Research Councils UK (RCUK) Executive Group. Prior to joining the ESRC in 2003, Professor Diamond was Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Southampton. He is a social statistician whose work has crossed many disciplinary boundaries, most notably working in the area of population but also in health, both in the developed and less developed world, and in collaboration with many government departments and with local authorities.

The Lecture will commence at 17:15 with an introduction by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Higgins. A question and answer session will follow at the end of the lecture at 18:15, with an anticipated close at 18:45.
