Monteverdi 1610 Vespers with I Fagiolini and Durham Singers
Hear one of the most ravishing pieces in the choral repertoire performed in Durham Cathedral under the direction of Monteverdi specialist Robert Hollingworth with soloists from his ensemble I Fagiolini
As part of their celebrations of Monterverdi's 450th anniversary, the internationally-renowned early music group I Fagiolini and their director Robert Hollingworth, make their first ever visit to Durham Cathedral, performing Monteverdi's 1610 Vespers with the Durham Singers.
The Vespers combine sensual and expressive solo writing with magnificent double-choruses, and all accompanied by an array of early instruments, including cornetts, sackbuts, dulcian, theorbo and recorders.
The singers are joined by I Fagiolini's regular collaborators, the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble.
