Tours of Durham Castle
Durham Castle is open to visitors by guided tour which averages 45-60 minutes.
There will be Guided tours today at 1.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm and 4.15pm
Durham Castle, commissioned by King William the Conqueror around 1072, has had an extremely interesting history. Home of the Prince Bishops until 1837 when it became the founding College of Durham University. Today the Castle continues to be a hall of residence for University students and is also an accredited museum.
Tickets are available on the day from either Palace Green Library from 9am, situated between the Castle and Cathedral, or the World Heritage Site Visitor Centre from 9:30am, located at the top of Owengate.

Owing to the layout of the castle and the presence of a number of steps the castle is not readily accessible for those with mobility difficulties or pushchairs; space is available at Palace Green Library for storage of pushchairs.
With the Castle being a University College tours are subject to change.
