9th March 2017, 18:30 to 20:30, Dawson Building, Lower Mountjoy, Durham

Watch stunning images of the cosmos projected on to one of Durham City’s newest landmarks.

This spectacular eight minute light show will be played six times an hour, featuring stunning computer simulations of the Universe carried out at the Institute for Computational Cosmology, some of which featured in The World Machine exhibit projected on to Durham Cathedral as part of Lumiere 2015.

No booking is required and we are offering free parking.

Created by artist Ross Ashton and Karen Monid with music by Isobel Waller-Bridge, working with Durham University staff and students, the projection begins with the story of 18th Century County Durham astronomer, mathematician and architect Thomas Wright.

On Friday 10 March and Saturday 11 March, after watching this spectacular light show come inside the Dawson Building to find more fun things to do for children and adults alike - watch the 3D movie Cosmic Origins, build your own Universe with the Universe Creator and go on a virtual reality “Tour of the Cosmos”.
