On 12 November 2019, Durham University hosted a private dinner at Cavalry and Guards Club in London to raise funds for the Vann Fellowship.

Dr Brian Powers, the current Vann Fellow, delivered the Inaugural Vann Lecture, 'Hope in the Wound: Resurrection and Moral Injury'. The full text can be downloaded here.

To mark the centenary of the First World War, Durham University is aspiring to raise £1.2 million to endow the Vann Fellowship, a unique three-year postdoctoral fellowship dedicated to the study of the relationship between Christianity and the armed forces - in the past, in the present, and into the future.

The inaugural Vann Fellow, Dr Brian Powers, took up his post in the autumn of 2018 to mark the end of the First World War centenary commemorations.
