Department of Theology and Religion

Departmental Research

The Department has a lively programme of research activity – seminars, conferences, colloquia – run and attended by academic staff and postgraduates alike and offeringthe best in national and international scholarship. Recent expansion means that there are twenty-five full-time teaching and research staff in the Department (and half a dozen others attached to the Department), whose expertise covers an unrivalled range of fields - from Biblical studies to historical, systematic and philosophical theology; from the study of religion to practical theology and the theology of ministry. We also have active links with other departments across the University, and with other theological institutions in the region, helping to maintain and enhance Durham's position as a world-class centre for research in all aspects of theology and the study of religion.
