Research Topic

My PhD thesis engages with a varied range of narrative texts including the Acts of Paul and Thecla and the Vita Antonii to look at the use of scripture in the formation of Christian ascetic identity. I particularly look at the two-way relationship between text and reader, with a view to describing the productive role of interpreters and the influence of historical and social location on reading and interpretation.
