Mr Celyn David Richards, MLitt, BA (Hons)
My doctoral thesis will examine the rapid growth of the printing industry in England between 1547 and 1553. The reign of Edward VI marked a period of great opportunity and prosperity for the printers and publishers of England, and developments were intimately connected to the Edwardian Reformation. This doctorate will examine the nature of this increased output, casting new light upon how legislative changes, thriving professional networks, technical innovations and the influx of foreign émigrés into England's print world each contributed to the dramatic increase in production in this six-year reign.
