How to apply

We are glad that you are considering joining our postgraduate community. Please contact the Postgraduate Admissions Secretary if you have any questions. Before doing so, please take the time to consult our intensive instructions on how to apply for our taught programmes and for our research programmes:

Taught Programmes

Please see individual course listings for specific requirements and the application process.

Research Programmes

Our Application Process page sets out these stages for applying:

1) satisfying basic requirements,
2) finding a supervisor and research topic,
3) making an application, and
4) consideration by the department and the university.

We also provide further information about entry requirements for research degrees.

Applications may be made at any time in the academic year, though no later than the very beginning of September for a start in October. Taught MA courses only begin in October, but you may also start research degrees in January or April, as well. However, if you wish to be considered for university funding, you need to be aware of our departmental deadlines.
