Durham University Sutton Trust Summer School

Information for Teachers

Please note that applications for the 2017 Summer School have now closed. Applicants will be informed of their outcome at the beginning of May.

What do my students need to do?

We advise that students check the Sutton Trust website for up to date information regarding the application process, including dates and requirements. Applications for the 2017 Summer School have now closed. Students are required to complete an application form for the programme and advice and guidance about the process is available from the Sutton Trust website.

Students can only apply for one Sutton Trust Summer School and must state which they wish to attend at the point of application.

Are my students eligible to apply?

Due to the popularity of the programme, students must meet certain eligibility criteria to apply for a place. The 2017 Sutton Trust Summer Schools are open to students (home UK only) studying in Year 12 or S5 in Scotland (or equivalent) at state maintained schools or colleges in the UK. Please see the apply page for further details.

If you have any questions or are not sure if one of your students is eligible, we encourage you to get in touch and we will be happy to talk through the application process with you.

Verifying a Student Application

Every student application to a Sutton Trust Summer School should be verified by a teacher using the online Teachers’ Confirmation Form. A link to the Teachers’ Confirmation Form for the 2017 Summer School will be sent to you by the Sutton Trust via email when one of your students has provided this information to them. The deadline for this verification is 5pm on Thursday 9th March

For more information about the confirmation form and what it contains, please read the teacher guidance provided by the Sutton Trust.

Data Protection

In order to comply with Data Protection legislation, we are required to seek express permission from an applicant before we disclose information about them or their application to any third party. If your students have a question or enquiry we would encourage that, where possible, they contact us directly and we will be happy to help. We will be unable to communicate with schools, friends or family members of applicants until express permission has been given. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
