Durham University

What to do if you receive an offer?

Respond to your decisions

Once you have received a decision from us then reply to UCAS with your firm and insurance choices by the deadline showing on UCAS Track.

Send us your results

UCAS provides universities with the results of many different qualifications but not all. If yours are not provided to the University by UCAS you will need to upload scanned copies directly to us.

Please do not send us original documents in case they get lost in the post. If you require a Student student visa you will need to take all relevant original documents to your visa appointment.

Confirm you will be taking up your place

If you have chosen Durham University as your firm choice, and we received your results and confirmed your place, you will need to confirm that you will be taking up your place. We will send you instructions on how to do this.

Confirming your place is particularly important for applicants who require a Student visa as we cannot begin the process for issuing a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies without this.

Apply for your visa

Unless you hold a UK passport then you will need a Student Visa to study with us. Once you have been confirmed and completed the Offer Acceptance form, we will begin the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) process so that you can apply for your visa.

Please note that in most cases the UK Immigration and Visa Authority will want to see tuition fees and accommodation fees for the first year in your bank account for 28 days before you apply for your visa.

International students

Our International Office is currently unable to travel, but continues to take part in online events to meet applicants around the world. Please click here for full details of our online events calendar. The University also has representatives in many countries who can help you with your application.
