Biography

Vera Piovesan is teaching fellow in international criminal law at Durham Law School. Her research focuses on culture and culpability in international criminal trials. 

Vera is currently a PhD candidate in international law at the Geneva Graduate Institute. She holds a master’s degree in international law from the same institution and a combined bachelor and master’s degree in law from Bocconi University, Milan. She has completed study and research stays at Harvard Law School, UCLA School of Law, and the University of Otago. 

Vera has worked as research assistant at the Global Migration Centre and at the HLS Program on International Law and Armed Conflict, and as legal assistant in a defence team at the International Criminal Court.
