Biography
Dr Nathaniel Skidmore is an early-career postdoctoral researcher with a growing research profile in digital innovation and immersive technology within pain and rehabilitation. He is currently working to explore the provision of cancer prehabilitation services throughout the North East of England. He is also actively engaged in shaping international pain research, education, advocacy and policy through his role with the European Pain Federation (EFIC), where he contributes to collaborations on several European-commissioned projects spanning a breadth of health topics.
Nathan also plays a leading role within XR4Rehab, serving on the organising committee for its 2024/2025 conference series. He was named one of XR4Rehab’s ‘Rising Stars’ for 2024–25, recognising his contribution and potential to lead in the growing field of immersive technology in health and care.
His career to date includes involvement in UK and EU-funded collaborative research programmes, and academic and public engagement work across health and digital inclusion. He also sits as part of the education committee for the British Pain Society and has an active role with the Community for Allied Health Professions Research (CAPRE-NE)
