Welfare & support
Durham University is proud to boast a fantastic system for Student Support and Development which centres on the resources available in the Colleges. St Aidan’s exemplifies this system with many levels of support which meet the needs of different people at different times.
Each undergraduate is allocated a College Mentor. Your College Mentor will support you with personal support and development during your time at Durham. In addition, there is support from fellow students from the Junior Common Room (JCR) who are elected to roles on the Executive Committee; specifically the JCR President, whose role it is to help and represent students; and the Welfare Officer who can offer support and guidance on any aspect of College life.
The staff at Aidan's, along with the students, are exceedingly friendly and are always there to support you making it very easy to settle into university life. They continue to provide support towards students during their time at University allowing you to relax, knowing there’s always someone to turn to for help.Richie Wong, BSc Natural Sciences
The Vice-Principal & Senior Tutor, Assistant Senior Tutor and Senior Student Development and Support Officer are available to all students who have questions or problems and are the main sources of advice within the College. The Student Support Secretary and College Office Coordinator are both very involved with the students and are always very happy to offer their time.
