Outreach & charity work

Many students at Aidan's get involved in helping others in the local community and raising money for charity - not only a rewarding experience but often a lot of fun as well!

You can join in with our DUCK group - the Durham University Charities Kommittee - who raise money for local, national and international charities in a number of imaginative ways (like rag raids on the streets of Durham and the annual rubber duck race!)

Or you can take part in one of our local community outreach projects - helping people of all ages. For example, St Aidan's Outreach Society works with a local school:

"St Aidan's Outreach Society is a volunteering and community engagement project whose members are undergraduate students in college. Currently, we are working closely with a local primary school mentoring and initiating play during lunchtimes as well as playing games using a range of equipment provided to us by Team Durham. Although this is our first project we hope to get others up and running as the society grows. It provides the school with help and support but also allows us all to have a welcome break from academic work as well as reminisce and play games that we used to enjoy as children!"
