The Junior Common Room

Every undergraduate at St Aidan's is automically a memebr of the St Aidan's Junior Common Room (JCR).

The JCR is headed up by an Executive Committee of students who are elected by the student body (the Exec). If you want the opportunity to take up a leadership role, you can run for one of the many Exec positions: for example, President, Vice President, Secretary, Social Secretary and Welfare Officer.

As part of the JCR Exec you might be involved in representing the views of the student body, organising a range of events and socials, leading welfare initiatives and providing support to your fellow students or helping others set up new societies.

Leadership opportunities exist on a smaller scale as well. Every society and sports team is headed up by a student (or team of students) - so you can get involved with helping lead a group pursuing something that you are interested in - whether a particular sport, theatre, music, dance, outreach or even chocolate, poetry or chess! And if your interests are not already represented in a society, there is all the support you need to set up your own society!
