Dilemmas Cafés

Members of the CSJCA have developed a way of working with ethical challenges in community-based participatory research called a 'dilemmas café'. This involves people coming together to discuss several dilemmas experienced in their research. A dilemmas café is a stimulating way of raising participants’ awareness of ethical challenges in participatory research; encouraging collaborative dialogue, including critical listening and questioning; stimulating learning through hearing about different ways of seeing and understanding issues; and exploring a variety of recommendations for action. We have produced a four-page guide for facilitators.
