Resources for Students
These webpages have been designed to give you an insight into Durham University and to help you start planning for your future. You can find out more about our University, sign up to our brand new personal statement 1-1s, and attend our virtual events for an opportunity to hear from our current students and explore the campus and City. If you have any questions or need to get in touch, please use our form here.
If you're in the process of applying to Durham for 2021, we can offer live 1-1 support with your personal statement. Book your place with one of our advisers to get feedback on your draft.
We are also offering a number of presentations and drop ins for teachers/advisers on writing effective UCAS references. Sign up here to find out what Durham University is looking for in a reference and how to incorporate contextual information about the student and your school/college.
Finally, we’re running a series of Discover Durham Live sessions throughout late November and early December. The sessions will cover four themes; applying to Durham, the Durham student experience, a day in the life of current students, and information for parents and carers.
These webpages provide a short introduction to life at Durham University, including:
Colleges (student accomodation)
Who can tell you what student life is like better than a current student? Our students have created blogs and videos to tell you about their experiences. They've even answered some of those important questions like: "How did you decide on your degree subject?" to help you think about your own plans.
In fact, you can even connect with a student and ask them your own specific questions about university life!
Meet the Students Live!
Thinking about applying but still undecided? Join our students live and hear from the experts themselves on all things Durham.
Our Live Chat will be open here at 6pm - 7pm GMT every day from Monday 30th November until Friday 15th January. If you have any last minute questions before making your University decision, don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to connect with our students.
Our graduates have applied to university, completed their degree and gone on to have new and exciting careers! They share their experiences of how university helped them to prepare for the world of work and develop their skills.
We know that it has been a challenging time over the last few months, and it can be hard to get motivated and concentrate when you're studying at home. We share some of our top tips to help you, and suggest some extra support available for free online too.
We have pre-recorded shortened versions of the presentations we are regularly asked to deliver to Year 10 - 13s in schools and colleges. We hope these session videos will help you learn about Durham University, the application process and life as a student.
