IHRR networking event

The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) hosted an internal Durham University networking event on 20 September 2023.

The IHRR 2023 networking event aimed to explore the breadth of IHRR-related themes within the university and foster new (or old) connections and research opportunities for research funding and outreach that will have a legacy of improving lives and fostering future resilience.

The event had 43 participants from Durham University, including attendees from Anthropology, the Business School, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Geography, the IHRR, the School of Government & International Affairs, Sociology and Research and Innovation Services (RIS). The day included dedicated sessions for:

  • 7 short overview presentations that highlighted departmental and RIS links to hazard, risk and resilience themes,
  • 9 research and research ideas 'pop ups' (3-minute presentations),
  • 10 poster and idea walls,
  • small groups discussions centred on the unanswered questions facing the hazard, risk and resilience communities, novel research-impact methods/dissemination/strategies, and ideas for the focus for the IHRR in the future.
