This page is designed to advise and aid prospective international students.

Where to begin

Our International Office have a considerable wealth of information which addresses questions such as Why Durham and has information about the UK, applying, Fees and Finance, Immigration, Getting to Durham, What Our Graduates Say and more. In particular, if you are interesting in visiting Durham our international office are excellent at hosting visits just complete the individual visits form. For students further down the track, there is some advice about applying for a visa.

For students who are classified as Overseas and apply for the BSc in Economics and Mathematics within the Natural Sciences programme we have a small scholarship scheme and potential candidates an invited to get in touch with us - this scholarship is NOT available to students taking any other combination. Otherwise, funding for international undergraduate students is fairly limited but we do have some information about Commonwealth, Indian, Nepalese and more awards.

Tuition Fee Status

When calculating the Fee Status we are legally obliged to follow the guidelines set out by the UK Council for International Student Affairs. The University does not conduct fee status assessments until a person has applied to study with us, as circumstances which can affect fee status can change before an applicant applies to us.

Outward missions

The Science Faculty has a team of international coordinators (including myself) who conduct overseas visits to meet prospective students and current applicants.

Videoclips of staff being interviewed

On Friday 3rd May 2013, Durham Science Went Live! where we hosted a livestreaming and Skype event and you can hear from our lecturers and professors and get your questions answered about everything from college life to coursework to visas. Note that some degrees will have changed in that time.

If you have any questions, then please don't hesitate to contact me at the address below.
