Martin Allison is responsible for all technical aspects of the Music Department including the six recording studios, departmental IT and music workstations, recording and sound engineering of concerts and workshops, and assisting students with A/V issues.

Martin studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Teesside from 1990 to 1994. Upon graduation he worked for Samsung Electronics Manufacturing UK for the next ten years as Senior Automatic Equipment design/process design Engineer for PC monitor manufacturing. In 2000 he won the Samsung UK outstanding achievement award for designing the world’s fastest PC monitor automatic colour adjustment system.

He is a keen musician and has played electric guitar from the age of ten, with a particular interest in Blues and Rock. This lead to an interest in electronics and sound engineering, and finally to his present position at Durham.
