Eminent scholar visiting department (Prof Bill Thompson, IAS Fellow)

Bill Thompson is Professor in Psychology at Macquarie University. He conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersections between music, language, emotion, and cognition. His current research is focused on understanding the role of music for atypical and outlier communities, including individuals with neurological impairment, fans of alternative and violent music, and diaspora populations.

He will deliver talks about 'Music and Violence' on 20 November and 'Music, Health and Wellbeing' on 7 November, and engage in a variety of research activities between October and December.
