Details released of department’s Research Forum guest lecture series 2017-18

The Research Forum is a regular series in which distinguished visitors give guest lectures on cutting-edge research from across the discipline.

The 2017-18 series, whose programme has just been released, brings a host of leading scholars to Durham to tackles important current topics in music analysis, historical musicology, musical cognition, performance practice, ludomusicology and popular music studies.

The series begins with Matthew Riley’s (University of Birmingham) lecture analysing ‘processional diatonicism’ in English music, on 24 October. Other highlights include Pamela Heaton’s (Goldsmiths, University of London) discussion of empirical studies of music perception in Williams Syndrome and Autism, and Allan Moore’s look at the continuing legacy of the prog rock movement.
