'Walking a Godly Path: Quaker Culture in 17thc. County Durham.'

14th March 2012, 17:30 to 18:30, World Heritage Site Visitor Centre, Lindsay Varner

Linday's research is on the development of The Society of Friends in County Durham from 1650 to 1700, with a focus on the Friends' social and economic impact not only within County Durham but throughout country. This study not only focuses on the local history of the Friends but takes into account the impact individual Friends had on the Society's development throughout the country and worldwide. Also by focusing on the early generations of County Durham Friends it is possible to understand the importance of Quaker involvement in the years leading to the Industrial Revolution in Northern England.
