IMEMS/CVAC Lecture: 'The Print Before Photography'

We are delighted to announce that the second joint IMEMS CVAC lecture will be given on 14th May at 5.45 at the Town Hall by Antony Griffiths. Trained at Christi Church Oxford and the Courtauld Institute, Antony Griffiths joined the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum in 1976.He was Keeper between 1991 and 2011. His monumental The Print Before Photography appeared in 2016.

In this lecture, Britain’s most distinguished historian of print, explains what early prints were, how they were made and how they were used. Antony Griffiths worked at the British Museum, in the Department of Prints and Drawings for 35 years.

On 15th May, Senate Suite, Castle, 10.00-11.30, there will be a workshop ‘Problems in Print History’, where Antony Griffiths will show some of the prints he owns and discuss the themes of his lecture.
