Interdisciplinary Workshop:Editing: Challenges and Directions
Three years ago, the highly successful lecture series on The Life of Texts at Durham proved how powerfully the topic of editing spoke to academics across the disciplines. This workshop offers further engagement: we will debate ongoing editorial issues in a sympathetic environment, with the aim to design more sustained activities in the future.
The workshop is an opportunity for editors to exchange views, work together on any particular problem, and address any challenges they might be facing in the line of their work:
specific editorial issues that are problematic, unexpected, or interesting
- significant editorial/methodological decisions made, and how they played out
- as well as mini topics and queries in any area of editing – from bibliographical theory to editing drama, manuscript study, the treatment of dialects, punctuation, or coding.
Each day features short presentations and ample discussion time.
Speakers include: John Morrill, Sarah Knight, Paul Seaward, Ruth Connolly, Philip West, Claudine Van Hensbergen, and a delegate from the Making and Knowing Project at Columbia University
