Executive Director - Professor Louise Bracken
Louise became the Executive Director and Wilson Chair in Risk and Hazard in June 2015. She is an interdisciplinary researcher specialising in the science of water and the practices of translating science into practical solutions to real-world environmental problems. She applies her research to water related risks including problems of flooding, risk to biodiversity and ways in which to undertake interdisciplinary research. She has two substantive research themes: 1) risk produced by spatial variations in runoff and sediment transfer including flooding, water pollution, damage to biodiversity, and management of water; and 2) undertaking interdisciplinary research to bring together the physical scientific outputs with those of social sciences around risk and the environment.
The following are the core directors, researchers and administrative staff part of IHRR, but the Institute also includes many other researchers throughout Durham University and beyond.
