IHRR Seminar: Paul Ormerod, Volterra, AI and Economics

12th November 2018, 13:00 to 14:00, W309, Geography

The main focus of the presentation is on how AI can help both understand and predict economic recessions. This has the potential to reduce the risks which policy makers face. Quite separately, there is a great deal of concern around the risk that large numbers of jobs will be lost as the use of AI spreads through the economy. I offer some thoughts on this. The presentation will focus on empirical results rather than the formal mathematics of the algorithms which are used.

Paul is a British economist who is a partner at Volterra Partners consultancy and a visiting professor at UCL Centre for Decision Making Uncertainty.

These seminars are free to attend and open to all.
