Controversial Theory on Cause of Landslides

Dave Petley received coverage in a Malaysian Sunday newspaper following his keynote lecture at an International Symposium on Slope Management in Kuala Lumpur.

Dave said that although climate change is likely to increase landslides, it isn’t this that will increase landslides the most and that the culprit, the biggest driver of landslide events, is actually the growth of cities when they move out into more and more marginal land with often poorly planned or poorly constructed housing development posing a real threat in terms of landslides.
