Narratives of the 2015 Nepal Earthquake
(6 March 2018)
A core theme of IHRR work is earthquakes and we have especially good links with Nepal, including varied stakeholders and communities. This volume brings together a range of academic research, reflections and interviews around the 2015 earthquake in Nepal. For the first time perspectives from geography, disaster risk reduction, cultural heritage protection, anthropology, health and emergency response will all be discussed in a single volume around once hazardous event. Existing ways in which we have been working with disasters has not worked very well since they have not embraced the many different ways of knowing and experiencing the event. Only by combing our efforts and assessing these events from a truly interdisciplinary perspective can we attempt to minimize the short and long term impacts of earthquakes.
The book has now been published. Please see the flyer here.
