Cambodia and Laos to complete demarcation by end of 2009

At a meeting of deputy foreign ministers of Laos and Cambodia in early August, the two countries agreed to complete the demarcation of their shared boundary in 2009 with the aim of guaranteeing secure and peaceful relations between the two countries. Laos and Cambodia have so far carried out some 80 percent of the exercise and they expect to install an additional 121 markers along the approximately 535 km boundary by the end of this year.
