We encourage you to nominate a preferred college using one of the UCAS college codes in your UCAS application. The college you choose will not in any way affect your chances of getting an offer from the University; that decision is made by your academic department.
If the academic department to which you apply decides to make you an offer, your application will be forwarded to the college of your choice. If your preferred college cannot allocate you a place, your application will be passed to an alternative college; find out more about college allocations.
If you prefer not to select a college then this is known as making an 'open' application. If you make an open application, the University will select a college for you on your behalf.
If you would like to choose Hatfield as your preferred college, please do this by entering "DUR/2" in the Campus Code column in your UCAS application.
All undergraduate applications to Durham University should be made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
Before you apply you should:
- Research which course or courses you would like to study. All of our courses are shown on our Course Database. You can see whether a course is open by checking UCAS Course Search.
- Decide whether you would like to state a college preference or submit an open application (where we allocate your college for you)
- Check you can meet the entry requirements
- Research tuition fees and living costs.
