Hatfield College

Communities

Like all colleges, in order to ensure a mix of students, we have a quota for each subject area. In total we have nearly 800 students of whom approximately 400 live in. In Hatfield there are:

  • Undergraduates: Junior Common Room (JCR) who are studying for 3 or 4 year degrees. The largest group in College.
  • Postgraduates: Middle Common Room (MCR) who are studying postgraduate courses from one-year vocational courses to Masters degrees and doctorates.
  • Senior members of College: Senior Common Room (SCR) who are College staff, College Mentors, academic staff of the University, members of the local community and alumni. Hatfield has a very lively and sociable SCR with a varied programme including a termly book club and walking club. Membership of the SCR is a good way of participating in College life.

The JCR, MCR and SCR each select their own President and Executive Committee and run their affairs. There are three College Officers: the Master, the Vice-Master & Senior Tutor, and the Assistant Senior Tutor.
