Grey College

Each year many events are run in Grey or by members of the College. Here is a small selection of those that took place last year:

Freshers week 2014. Probably the most packed week of the year with events going on nearly all the time. We had parties, games, treasure hunts, smoothies, films, a hypnotist, comedy, music... Every day there were options for nights in and nights out, providing a range of activities for the variety of Students we have at Grey.

Army bop. Bops are parties in College where the whole College gets decorated, we hire a DJ and we open the Bar later. Last year was no exception. To celebrate new members of the Grey Army, members came in vintage and khaki and had a great time.

Informal ball. The only College event where you'll get to eat a three course meal in fancy dress. Last year the theme was musicals and we say the yellow brick road, a number of nuns and a rendition of part of Joseph and his Technicoloured Dreamcoat.

Christmas formal. Formals are meals in which, as the name suggests, you wear suits and dresses. Grey is a gowned college so you get to feel a bit like Harry Potter at the same time. We have about five a term, with Christmas formal the most hotly anticipated. Expect good food, novelty ties and perhaps even some mistletoe.

Grey Day

Barfest. The clue is in the name. Spend a day in Grey listening to music and tasting a variety of craft beers, cocktails and speciality ciders. Last year there was a six nations game on as well, which suited the event perfectly.

PGN. President's Guest Night is gives the President the chance to celebrate achievement in the college. They invite members from the sports, societies and committees who have made big contributions to life in Grey.

Fashion Show. An evening of clothing, conversation and watching the runway. The event is run for charity and every year makes a big profit.

Inter MCR formal. This year the MCR formal is coming to Grey with Postrgraduates from across the University invited to take part in a classic Grey dinner. No specific details yet, but we are sure it will be good.

Grey Day. All Grey students come and chill out on the lawn for a day of music, drinks and relaxation. We produce our own coloured t-shirts and last years theme was Around the World and it was fantastic, if we do say so ourselves.

Phoenix Ball. The highlight of Grey's social calendar, Phoenix Ball is evening of formal entertainment that carries on till the sunrise. Each year it takes place in a non-College location with last year's being a fantastic Arabian Knights soiree at Hardwick Hall.

And much, much more..
