Grey provides an inclusive postgraduate community with a huge variety of opportunities for its members to get involved. As a College, we are both a social and an academic community within Durham University. The Vice Master alongside the Postgraduate Tutor are working together to provide a program of events such as weekly seminars and postgraduate-only formal meals. Whether or not you choose to live in Grey College, all postgraduate members are able to play a full part in the life of the college. For example, by going on days out or attending academic talks and formal dinners. Alongside this you are all most welcome to join Grey’s postgraduate student body, the Middle Common Room (MCR).
As a postgraduate, you can get involved in as much or as little as you choose. MCR members can join any of Grey’s 18 sports teams including cheerleading, rowing and ultimate Frisbee. They can become part of Grey’s 20+ societies including Harry Potter, Flute ensemble and the Christian Union. There are also College committees such as Bar, Fireworks and the Arts Committee. Furthermore, there are many social events from open mics to costume nights, from the charity fashion show to the annual College Ball. Please send any queries to firstname.lastname@example.org or book a tour.
If you wish to apply to Grey as a full-time postgraduate, you must first apply to your programme of study through your department. Once an offer has been made, you will be invited to make a College application. To apply to Grey, please write “GREY” on this application and select whether you wish to be considered for catered or self-catered accommodation.
