GLAD conversations are annual events in which speakers working in the field of feminist/LGBT activism talk about their experiences. The term "conservation" has been carefully chosen to emphasise that the format of the event is not dictated by a traditional lecture format, but is designed to facilitate as much dialogue as possible between speaker and audience through Q&A. GLAD conversations offer the audience a valuable opportunity to learn more about the life and work of the speaker, and are very well attended each year by staff, students, and activists from the region. Events last for around 2 hours, and are usually followed by an informal drinks reception.
