Brief: Construct a new Islamic Prayer Room

More information: The University had received planning permission to construct a new Islamic Prayer Room.

The new single-storey Prayer Room takes the place of an unoccupied bungalow, situated to the east of South Road, near Grey College. It is closer to the Bill Bryson Library - a more convenient location for students.

Increasing the diversity of the student body is crucial. A new space in which students can practise their faith will improve existing facilities for current and prospective students and will add to the University’s ongoing contribution to Durham’s cultural and community life.

Building work was carried out by Elite Systems (GB) LTD and finished in summer 2018.
