Brief: Construct a new Islamic Prayer Room

More information: The University has received planning permission to construct a new Islamic Prayer Room and building work has commenced.

The new single-storey Prayer Room will take the place of an unoccupied bungalow, situated to the east of South Road, near Grey College. It will be closer to the Bill Bryson Library, making it a more convenient location for students.

Increasing the diversity of the student body is crucial. A new space in which students can practise their faith will improve existing facilities for current and prospective students and will add to the University’s ongoing contribution to Durham’s cultural and community life.

Building work is being carried out by Elite Systems (GB) LTD and will finish in late June / early July.
