Poetry Book Society Showcase

7th October 2017, 16:00 to 17:00, Palace Green Library, Sinéad Morrissey, Colette Bryce and Tara Bergin

Join three stunning Irish voices at Durham Book Festival, as the Poetry Book Society celebrates some of the year's most exciting releases.

T.S. Eliot Prize-winner Sinéad Morrissey returns to Durham Book Festival with a poignant and compelling collection, On Balance. Selected by the society as their Summer Choice, this new collection masterfully evokes the atmosphere of a society threatened by crisis.

Also given special commendation in the Summer selection, Colette Bryce will read from her Selected Poems. Through four collections, Colette has consolidated her position as one of the most important Irish poets of her generation, and this collection draws together the best of her work.

Reading alongside them is Tara Bergin. Winner of the Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize in 2014, Tara’s latest release The Tragic Death of Eleanor Marx is a current Recommendation for the Poetry Book Society’s Autumn selection.

This Durham Book Festival event is in collaboration with The Poetry Book Society. Founded in 1953 by T.S. Eliot, it is now based in Newcastle.

It is introduced by Professor Stephen Regan, Director of the Centre for Poetry and Poetics at Durham University.
