PhD Research Project

Lithospheric Controls on Arc Volcano Distribution

The occurrence of volcanic arcs are important to human life and society through their related natural resources and geohazard. Subsurface processes can be identified by surface features and geometry. The morphology of the Earth’s surface may led to this understanding. The purpose of this research are to understand the concept of volcano arc distribution in the world, regarding the segmentation pattern based on image analysis. Datasets used in this research are both the existing data and the data that will be produced during the research. Study area are focused on Mariana Arc in the east of Phillipines plate and Sunda Arc in Indonesia.
