Colourful Signs of Power and Status – Heraldry in Past and Present
The buildings and paintings of Durham’s cathedral and colleges are home to countless coats of arms, evoking the kings, princes, knights and noblemen of the past. But heraldry is still very much alive today. This lecture offers an overview of the study of heraldry, from its peculiar terminology and long history to its many practical applications throughout the centuries.
