Art, Architecture and Museums Series: New Light on Durham's Illuminated Manuscripts
From the exotic lapis lazuli and Egyptian Blue, to poisonous arsenic yellow, recent scientific investigation has identified the inks and pigments used in Durham's fabulous illuminated manuscripts. This talk will summarise the methods, their findings and their implications.
A season of events celebrating the history, art and culture of County Durham, organised in partnership by Durham County Council and the Centre for Visual Arts and Culture and History Departments of Durham University.
