+When is the latest date that I can start my course?

For programmes within Durham University Business School

If you will be joining a programme which cannot be offered online as a back-up (Full-time MBA, EMBA and DBA) listed here Covid-19 Response: FAQs for applicants and future students - Durham University, you will receive communications from your programme team about starting your studies with the School, including information on arriving late.

For all other programmes, if you plan to study a full-time programme in person on campus in Michaelmas Term, but anticipate you might arrive later than the start of term on the 4th October, you should:

    1. Complete your enrolment through Banner Self-Service. Details on how to do this will be sent to you by email. Do not complete the separate application for entirely online study.
    2. Follow the instructions of how to engage with online learning for the period of time you are not able to study on campus at the start of term, which will be provided on your programme's Learn Ultra and SharePoint sites at the start of the induction or term. Please also look out for relevant information in communications from the School.
    3. Start your studies on campus by 1st November 2021.
    4. Contact the Learning and Teaching team if your planned arrival date changes. View their contact details here.

For programmes within:

  • Faculty of Arts & Humanities
  • Faculty of Science
  • Faculty of Social Science and Health

If you will be joining a programme that cannot be offered entirely online (as listed here Covid-19 Response : FAQs for applicants and future students - Durham University) you will need to start your studies in Durham no later than 18th October 2021. If you cannot start your studies on campus by this date, you may be asked to defer.

For all other programmes, if you plan to study in person on campus in Michaelmas Term, but anticipate that you might arrive later than the start of term on the 4th October, you should:

  1. Complete your enrolment through Banner Self-Service. Details on how to do this will be sent to you by email. Do not complete the separate application for entirely online study.
  2. Keep your academic Department and College informed of your planned arrival date.
  3. Contact your Department to obtain instructions on how to engage with online learning for the period of time you are not able to study on campus, and what arrangements will be made for your participation once you arrive in Durham.
  4. Aim to start your studies on campus by the 18th October 2021.
