    Covid-19

We are updating these webpages with information and guidance on a regular basis to reflect the latest government advice. Please use the pages below to access the information most relevant to you.

We urge our community to follow government guidance to help control the spread of Covid-19.

The UK Government has now confirmed that further in-person teaching at English universities cannot start again until Monday 17 May at the earliest, as part of Step 3 of the Roadmap.

We ask students not to come back to Durham ahead of that date or before government gives consent, unless it is essential you do so to support your educational needs. We are working with our partners to press the UK Government to provide clarity on plans for the safe resumption of Covid-secure face-to-face teaching. Visit our Position Statements page to read our latest Easter Term update.

We will ensure that students receive a first-rate education and achieve their learning outcomes on time, and that students are not disadvantaged during the pandemic.

Visit the "Latest news" sections for students and staff for more information.

Careers & Enterprise Centre

Online

The Careers & Enterprise service will be delivered entirely remotely during the Easter break and Easter term. This will be a full service of central support, events and workshops, plus tailored support to departments.

This will include:

We will be reviewing remote working during the summer break whilst maintaining remote services. We intend to develop a hybrid approach (remote and on campus) as we move into the new academic year as remote service provision has made access significantly easier for a range of students.

Our Covid-19 and Your Career webpage contains information about the support and employability opportunities currently available, as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

Student appointments are available via video or audio callusing Microsoft Teams or Zoom. These can be booked as normal via the Student Services Portal. Our guide to using Microsoft Teams for appointments contains information you might find helpful. If you have any queries about this please contact careers@durham.ac.uk.

We’re contacting all finalists to explore their support and information needs from 19th March, and will respond cumulatively with offers of 1:1 support, information and a series of support workshops (to be delivered w/c 14 June).

We continue to send events bulletins to students each Tuesday evening, and opportunities bulletins each Thursday evening.

We also have explanatory signage at the entrance to the Careers Centre in the Palatine Centre.

You can contact us either via careers@durham.ac.uk or using the 'Ask a Careers Question' functionality on the Student Services Portal

We are not currently offering a phone service throughout the Easter break and Easter term.

We continue to send events and opportunities bulletins to students.
